Igboho urges new ambassadors to partner Tinubu in rebranding Nigeria’s global image

Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Saturday urged Nigeria’s newly appointed career and non-career ambassadors to work closely with President Bola Tinubu to positively reshape the country’s global image and perception.

Igboho also stressed the need for the envoys to deploy their expertise and experience as technocrats and leaders to excel in their respective diplomatic postings.

In a statement made available to journalists, the activist commended Tinubu for the appointments and called on Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion, political affiliation or ethnic background, to project the country positively despite its socio-economic challenges.

Recall that President Tinubu, on Friday, announced the posting of 65 ambassadors and their countries of primary assignment in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Among those named were former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, posted to Germany; Professor Isaac Adewole (Canada); Reno Omokri (Mexico); retired Lt-Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (China); Kayode Are (United States); former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodeji Oke (France); and Chioma Ohakim (Poland).

Igboho particularly welcomed the appointment of Fani-Kayode and commended the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, as well as President Tinubu’s lawyer, Oluwole Afolabi, SAN, for their roles.

“I, on behalf of Chief Fani-Kayode, want to specifically commend President Bola Tinubu for deeming it fit to appoint him and other Yoruba indigenes as ambassadors for our diplomatic missions. This is indeed commendable.”

“It is also noteworthy to thank the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, and President Bola Tinubu’s lawyer, Oluwole Afolabi, SAN, over Fani-Kayode’s appointment as the nation’s ambassador to Germany,” Igboho concluded.
