Prolific film director and actor, Ugezu J. Ugezu, has refused to yield to pressure to renounce his affiliation with Igbo tradition, customs, and values. Despite being approached by big brands with potential endorsement deals, Ugezu remains committed to promoting Igbo metaphysics, ideology, and language. Ugezu describes himself as a “man of the ancestors” and insists on staying true to his roots.
Big brands have reportedly pressured Ugezu to distance himself from Igbo tradition in exchange for endorsement deals. He was honored with a Chieftaincy title for his contributions to promoting Igbo culture.
In an Instagram post ,Ugeze who’s known for his occult grand master roles in movies revealed that he has been under pressure to renounce his affiliation to Igbo tradition . The actor remains resolute in his decision, prioritizing his cultural identity over potential financial gains.
“I can never denounce them. Keep your endorsement that questions my faith. I will never be interested,” the actor said. Ugezu’s stance highlights the importance of cultural identity and the challenges faced by artists who refuse to compromise their values for fame or fortune
