Rapper and reality TV star Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, popularly known as Laycon, has revealed that following his victory on Big Brother Naija in 2020, he felt completely disconnected from his inner self.
In a recent video posted on Instagram, Laycon described the unsettling period when he could not hear his own thoughts clearly.
“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” he asked, reflecting on the experience.
The singer explained that it was not until December 2021, after his sold-out concert, The Icons Fest, that he began to reconnect with his inner voice.
“After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” he shared.
During this time of introspection, Laycon said his inner voice posed challenging questions.
“Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this? Are you happy?” He admitted that these questions compelled him to spend time alone, reflecting deeply on his life and choices.
“So, that’s what I did. From that conversation came a lot of necessary but uncomfortable truths and realisations about myself,” Laycon added, emphasising that solitude allowed him to confront realities he had previously avoided.
The rapper highlighted the value of quiet and reflection, urging his followers to embrace moments of silence.
According to him, self-reflection fosters personal accountability and growth, providing the clarity needed to make meaningful changes in life.
