‘I didn’t lie’ — Blessing CEO apologises over cancer controversy, offers donor refunds

Controversial Nigerian influencer and self-acclaimed relationship expert, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has apologised to Nigerians following intense backlash over her health claims, while insisting that she did not fabricate the health issues.

The 36-year-old broke her silence after weeks of backlash, returning to Instagram with a video message and offering what she described as a “genuine apology” for the confusion, embarrassment to her family and loved ones, and public outrage surrounding the controversial claims.

“I am sorry for the unnecessary drama, embarrassment, and controversy surrounding my health issues. I sincerely apologise. Going forward, I promise to be transparent with all my medical reports, including my scans and biopsy results,” she said.

“Please be patient with me, as I will take you along on this journey, just like I did during my liposuction and BBL journey. I did not lie about my health issues. I will start by officially uploading my scan results and biopsy details and keep you all informed every step of the way.”

The influencer promised to release detailed medical documentation, including scan results and biopsy reports, to address her claims and to document her health journey publicly.

She also said she is willing to refund those uncomfortable with the controversy, asking them to provide proof of payment and their account details via direct message or WhatsApp.

“Thank you so much for all the love and well wishes. To well-meaning Nigerians who contributed towards my health, I am deeply grateful and do not take your support for granted,” she added.

“To those who feel uncomfortable with the controversies, I am willing to offer refunds. Kindly send a WhatsApp message or DM with your receipt and account details, and you will be refunded.

“Thank you all. Remain blessed. I still ask for your prayers, please ask God to perfect everything that concerns me.”

The controversy, which began earlier this year, started after Blessing CEO announced she was battling stage four cancer and appealed for financial support from the public.

Her claims quickly came under scrutiny after Xinus Medical Diagnostics alleged that the medical report she shared had been altered and originally belonged to another patient.

It got intense when a woman identified as Deborah Mbara later accused her of manipulating medical documents to mislead the public and explained how her medical report was allegedly used without consent.

Deborah’s family subsequently petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing Blessing CEO of cyberbullying, forgery, and obtaining money under false pretences.

The Nigerian Cancer Society, NCS, also called for a full-scale investigation into alleged false cancer claims and suspected donation misconduct amid growing outrage over the credibility of her public fundraising appeal.
