Gov Otti emerges unopposed for 2nd term
By Steve Oko
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State on Saturday emerged unopposed as the Labour Party’s candidate for the Abia State governorship race.
He was declared winner by the National Organising Secretary, Mrs Oluchi Okpara, who was the returning officer for the governorship primaries at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia.
Similarly, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, Saturday, secured the Labour Party’s senatorial ticket for his sixth term bid.
Abaribe, who won in 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, defected to the Labour Party after a temporary stay in the ADP.
Senator Darlington Nwokocha, who was displaced at the Court of Appeal by the incumbent Senator Austin Akobundu, also emerged as the LP candidate for Abia Central.
Amobi Ogah and all serving House of Representatives members of the LP from Abia all secured their return tickets.
