Four persons injured as gas laden tanker explodes in Zaria

Four persons have sustained various degrees of injuries following the collision and explosion of two gas laden tankers on Zaria to Kano express way on Monday.
An eye witness told DAILY POST that no death was recorded but victims who sustained injuries have been taken to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching, Zaria for medical attention.
Confirming the incident, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Zaria, Nasir Abdullahi Falgore, explained that one of the tankers was laden with LNG gas and the other was empty.
He said the accident occurred around 8,30 am on Monday morning.
Aminu Ahmadu Kiyawa, Area Commander, Federal Fire Service, Zaria said, “after receiving a distress cal from somebody, his men rushed to the scene of the incident.”
According to him, three people were injured as a result of the explosion from the gas-laden tanker and one person was evacuated from the other tanker.
He added that the four injured persons who were burnt were quickly rushed to the ABU teaching hospital Shika for medical treatment.
Kiyawa, however, debunked involvement of a gulf or any other car in the incident, saying, “When we arrived at the scene, it was only the two tankers involved in the accident. There was no small car involved.
“According to the preliminary report we gathered, the gas-laden tanker was following the empty fuel tanker from the rear when the front truck had a punctured tire and was then hit from the rear by the loaded vehicle,” he explained.
