FG to relocate Dukpa allottees as three-week verification begins
…Says unverified claims will be dropped

ABUJA — The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will commence a final verification exercise for allottees of the defunct Dukpa Site and Services Scheme in Gwagwalada next month, ahead of their planned relocation to an alternative site.
The three-week exercise will commence on September 7, 2026, and hold on working days at the Presidential Technical Committee on Land Reform office in Garki 2 and the Department of Lands and Housing Development in Mabushi, Abuja.
This was contained in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi Haiba, in Abuja.
The plots were originally allocated in 1992 by the then Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for private development before the allocations were revoked by the government for the National Housing Programme.
Haiba said the ministry had concluded arrangements to relocate genuine allottees to an alternative site secured within Gwagwalada.
He said the verification exercise was aimed at authenticating claims before the relocation process begins.
“In line with Section 28(2B) of the Land Use Act, Cap 202, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (as amended), the Ministry has concluded arrangements to relocate all genuine allottees to an alternative site secured within Gwagwalada, and has scheduled a final verification exercise to authenticate claims ahead of the relocation,” he said.
The ministry advised affected allottees to appear for the exercise with their original letters of allocation and photocopies, payment receipts, valid means of identification, sworn affidavit and passport photographs.
It warned that any plot or allottee not verified within the stipulated period would be excluded from the relocation exercise.
“The exercise will run strictly on working days within the stated period, and any plot or allottee not verified within the timeframe will not be included in the relocation to the alternative site,” the statement said.
The ministry further warned that there would be no extension after the verification window closes.
It urged affected persons to take advantage of the exercise to regularise their status ahead of the relocation.
