FG reaffirms commitment to youth empowerment, hosts Duke of Edinburgh events

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young Nigerians through economic reform, digital access, skills development, and non-formal learning, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has said.

Edun made the remarks during the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Forum and the International Gold Event, where he highlighted the limitless potential of Nigerian youth.

Nigeria became the first African country to host both the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Forum and the International Gold Event simultaneously, attracting His Royal Highness Prince Edward and delegates from more than 50 countries to Lagos and Abuja.

According to a statement by Mohammed Manga, Director of Information and Public Relations, Edun, who also chairs the Board of Trustees of The International Award for Young People Nigeria, actively engaged with global trustees, youth representatives, and award participants throughout the week. He reiterated that the government’s reforms aim to equip young people with the tools to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.

At the closing dinner of the International Gold Event, Edun congratulated delegates and encouraged them to apply the values of confidence, collaboration, and leadership beyond the classroom.

“There is no limit to what you can achieve,” he said. “We are doing all we can to inspire and support you now. Go out there, add value, and be world-ready.”
