FCT Police foil early-morning robbery in Karu

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled an armed robbery operation in the Karu area of Abuja, arresting one suspect while others escaped, and recovering a firearm and other dangerous weapons.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, December 27, 2025, at about 3:43 a.m., following a distress call received through the FCT Police Command emergency number reporting an ongoing armed robbery at a residence in Karu Site.
She said a police response team from Karu Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), was immediately deployed to the scene.
“Upon sighting the police team, the suspects opened fire. The police officers responded professionally, subdued the attackers, and arrested one of the suspects, while two other accomplices fled the scene,” Adeh stated.
The arrested suspect was identified as Abdul Mohammed, a 20-year-old male from Masaka, Nasarawa State.
Exhibits recovered during the operation include two mobile phones, one locally fabricated firearm, four live cartridges, two knives, one cutlass, and one torchlight.
The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect sustained injuries during the encounter and is currently receiving medical attention. She added that investigations are ongoing, with efforts intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commending the swift response and professionalism of the officers, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, urged residents of the FCT to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities.
He reiterated the Command’s emergency contact numbers as 08032003913 and 07057337653, assuring residents of the police’s continued commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the territory.
