EPL: No plan to remove Odegaard as Arsenal’s captain – Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has insisted he is not planning to remove Martin Odegaard as the team’s captain.
Arteta was speaking ahead of the Gunners’ final Champions League group phase fixture against Kairat Almaty on Wednesday.
There have been calls for the armband to be taken off Odegaard, with some pundits suggesting that players like Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes are better candidates.
The criticisms seem to have been justified, after Arteta has taken off Odegaard early in the second half of Arsenal’s recent games.
When asked if Odegaard could lose the captaincy, Arteta said: “No, the minutes are related.
“Because obviously he had two shoulder injuries and he was out for six weeks with a knee injury as well.
“The games maybe require something different.”
