EPL: Maresca provides update as Chelsea suffer major injury blow

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has announced that striker, Liam Delap will spend not less than two months on the sideline due to injury.

The manager made this known to the media after the player sustained an injury during their 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.

The former Leicester City manager said the England forward could face six to eight weeks on the sidelines.

Delap was replaced in the 14th minute of the game with Tyrique George following a hamstring injury.

He said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano:

“Liam Delap is expected to be out for 6 to 8 weeks because of this type of injury.”

Chelsea have since stopped Nicolas Jackson from completing his loan move to Bayern Munich due to the situation.

Delap joined the Blues from Ipswich Town this summer in a deal in the region of £30 million

This was after he netted 12 league goals for the Tractor Boys last season in 37 appearances.
