EPL: ‘I’m really sorry, I doubted you’ – Chelsea legend apologises to Arsenal’s William Saliba

Chelsea’s former defender, Marcel Desailly, has apologized to Arsenal’s defender William Saliba.
He had previously said that the French defender was not very good and that he would not become a top player in the world.
Desailly told Card Player that his opinion of the Arsenal player was incorrect and explained that Saliba has proven him wrong in just two years.
The ex-Chelsea player believes the 24-year-old has adapted quickly to the Premier League and has been important in the Gunners’ matches during Mikel Arteta’s tenure as manager.
He said, via Standard: “I need to apologize to William Saliba. I watched him when he first came to Arsenal and I didn’t think he’d become a top player, that was a big mistake!
“He has shown great leadership and consistency, and he has a lot of potential; we haven’t seen his best performance yet. A few years back, the club really needed strong leaders, and now Saliba is part of that leadership team. He has helped the Gunners improve a lot, and now they can compete for big prizes.”
Desailly also said that France is lucky to have the defender in their team and expressed support for Saliba at the FIFA World Cup this summer.
“France is really lucky to have him as well; they can count on a top-class centre-back for the upcoming World Cup. He’s a very important player for both his club and his country, and I’m excited to see how much better he can get.”
