Delta mobile court convicts 16, issues warrants for 12 for violating environmental sanitation laws

Determined to ensure that Asaba Capital Territory remains environmentally sustainable, the Mobile Court of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, DSCTDA, has convicted 16 environmental offenders for violating environmental sanitation laws within the capital territory.

The offenders were prosecuted by the Head of Environment of DSCTDA, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, who led the enforcement action against individuals and establishments found to be in breach of environmental laws within the capital territory.

The court session also discharged four defendants after reviewing their cases, while bench warrants were issued for 12 offenders who failed to appear in court to answer the charges filed against them.

Among the cases prosecuted was Chuzz4 Apartment and Suites, which was accused of discharging wastewater into a public drainage system, an act considered a violation of environmental regulations and a threat to public health and sanitation.

Speaking on the development, the Director-General of DSCTDA, Mr. Patrick Ukah, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws and maintaining a clean and healthy capital territory.

Ukah warned that individuals and organizations who violate environmental regulations, including improper disposal of wastewater and waste materials, will continue to face prosecution.

He further called on residents, business owners, and property managers to comply with environmental laws, stressing that the agency will sustain its enforcement drive to ensure that the capital territory remains orderly and environmentally sustainable.
