Defence Minister’s condolence visit to family of fallen Brig-Gen Uba draws nationwide praise

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), has received widespread commendation for his compassionate visit to the family of the late Brigadier-General B. M. Uba, who was killed in the line of duty during a military operation in Wajiroko, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, historian and public affairs analyst Edward John Auta Pama applauded the Minister for personally consoling the grieving family and reaffirming the Federal Government’s support.

Pama said Gen. Musa’s visit provided solace and reassurance to the bereaved household, describing the gesture as a profound demonstration of empathy, responsibility and national gratitude for the fallen officer’s ultimate sacrifice.

He noted that the Minister’s conduct reflects the leadership qualities that marked his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff—qualities that, he said, cemented Gen. Musa’s reputation for effective, humane and people-centered service.

According to him, Nigerians across the country are hopeful that Gen. Musa’s stewardship of the Defence Ministry will inject renewed momentum, strategic direction and improved outcomes into the nation’s security architecture.

Pama emphasized that honouring fallen heroes is essential not only to preserving their memory but also to boosting the morale of serving personnel who continue to put their lives on the line for the nation.

“We wish you tremendous success, dearest General,” he added.
