Danger averted as fire fighters battle inferno in Taraba farm

The Taraba state command of the Federal Fire Service, has successfully put out a fire outbreak at Kukunba Farm located at ATC in Jalingo, preventing what officials said would have caused extensive damage.

The incident, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer, of the command, Sylvanus Mikailu, occurred at about 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

“A distress call was received through the Acting State Controller, ACF Yakubu Samson Dungus, alerting the Service to about the fire incident.

A firefighting team led by ASF II Mu’azu Bako Danburam was immediately deployed to the scene. The crew swiftly brought the situation under control, successfully containing and extinguishing the blaze, “the statement read.

Officials said the prompt response and professional handling of the incident prevented the fire from escalating and saved property worth millions of naira. No casualties were recorded during the operation.

“The fire appliance, driven by ASF II Edwin Macah, and the crew returned to the station at approximately 2:35 p.m. No complaints were reported following the response”, Mikailu stated.

The Acting State Controller, Yakubu Samson Dungus, reiterated his appeal to residents of the state to adhere strictly to fire safety measures. He also urged members of the public to promptly alert the Fire Service in the event of any fire emergency to ensure a timely response.

Though the cause of the inferno could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report, some residents of the area who spoke with our reporter, confirmed that the swift intervention of the fire service men prevent the incident from causing severe havoc.
