Borno police arrest suspects for allegedly beating elderly IDP to death

The Borno State Police Command has arrested two Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) for allegedly beating a 72-year-old man to death at an IDP camp in Ngala Local Government Area of the state.
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X on Monday, said the suspects identified as 25-year-old Modu Mohammed and 32-year-old Annami Modu conspired to attack the victim, Abba Mustapha, accusing him of witchcraft.
“The suspects claimed the man bewitched the wife of one of them, causing her ill health. They stormed his house at the camp with sticks and beat him severely,” Makama stated.
According to Makama, policemen at the camp intervened and rushed the victim to the General Hospital in Ngala, where a doctor confirmed him dead.
The police recovered four sticks used in the attack as exhibits, while the suspects were immediately taken into custody.
The body of the deceased has since been released to his family for burial in line with Islamic rites, while the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri has commenced full investigation into the matter.
