BAP Productions’ award-winning Dear Kaffy to make London debut August 7–9

Award-winning Nigerian stage production, Dear Kaffy: Diary of a Single Woman, will make its London debut at the Shaw Theatre, London, from August 7 to 9, 2026, as Bolanle Austen-Peters Productions (BAP Productions) continues its drive to showcase African stories on the global stage.

The production, which follows successful runs in Lagos and South Africa, will be staged for a limited three-day engagement, with two performances daily at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

According to BAP Productions, the play centres on Kikelomo Olota (Kike), a successful 35-year-old woman navigating the complexities of love, family expectations, self-discovery and societal pressures in contemporary Lagos.

As Kike journeys through a series of relationships, she finds herself torn between meeting societal expectations and pursuing the life she truly desires. Through humour, heartbreak, music and reflection, the play explores themes of identity, womanhood, love and authenticity.

The producers said that while the story is deeply rooted in Nigerian culture, its themes resonate with audiences across the world, particularly among members of the African diaspora, reflecting the challenges many women face in balancing personal ambition, cultural expectations and the pursuit of happiness.

Produced by BAP Productions, the company founded by producer and director Bolanle Austen-Peters, Dear Kaffy is part of the company’s efforts to take contemporary African stories to international audiences.

BAP Productions has earned recognition for stage productions such as Saro the Musical, Wakaa! The Musical, Fela and the Kalakuta Queens, Motherland The Musical and Death and the King’s Horseman.

The company said the London production marks another milestone in its international expansion and reinforces its commitment to presenting African narratives on global stages.

Speaking on the production, Austen-Peters described Dear Kaffy as a story of self-worth, resilience and the courage to define one’s own path.

“We are delighted to bring Dear Kaffy to London. This is a story about self-worth, resilience and finding the courage to define your own path. While Kike’s story is rooted in Lagos, her experiences are universal. We look forward to sharing this production with audiences in the UK and celebrating the richness of African storytelling on a global stage,” she said.

The performances will take place at the Shaw Theatre, 100–110 Euston Road, London NW1 2AJ.

Tickets are available in three categories: Standard (£45), Premium (£70) and VIP (£100), with organisers advising theatre enthusiasts to book early due to expected demand.
