Bandits kill former LG director, abduct wife, two others in Kebbi
A former Director of Personnel Management, DPM, of Ngaski Local Government Area, Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed, has been killed by suspected bandits during an attack on his residence in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The development was disclosed on Friday by crisis reporter in the North-West region, Bakastine, in a post shared via his X handle.
According to Bakastine, the attack occurred at about 2:30 a.m. in the Low Cost area of Yauri, where the gunmen reportedly stormed the victim’s residence in an attempt to abduct him.
He said the deceased resisted the abduction and was shot dead, while his body was later recovered within the premises of his home.
The attackers also reportedly abducted his wife, Rukayyatu Abdullahi, and another woman, Malama Maryam Sale, a teacher at Abarshi Secondary School, Yauri.
Their whereabouts remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.
Bakastine further reported that security operatives responded to the attack, during which one of the suspected gunmen was reportedly neutralised and a vehicle allegedly used by the attackers was recovered.
Efforts to rescue the abducted victims and track down the fleeing suspects are ongoing, while authorities continue investigations into the incident.
The attack has thrown the Yauri community into mourning, with residents and sympathisers expressing grief over the killing.
Funeral prayers for the late Nasiru Mohammed were scheduled to hold on Friday at 2:30 p.m., after Jumu’ah prayers.
