ABUJA — Leader of the Senate and Chairman of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, Opeyemi Bamidele, has pledged that the South-West geo-political zone will deliver at least 10 million votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Monday after the inauguration of the 57-member Ekiti APC Governorship Election Campaign Council in Ado-Ekiti, Bamidele described the June 20 governorship election as “a walkover for the All Progressives Congress (APC)” and a referendum on the leadership of Biodun Oyebanji.

He highlighted Oyebanji’s achievements since assuming office, noting strategic development projects and programmes that have transformed the state.

“The governor has been consciously paddling the oars of our state with courage, vision, confidence, synergy, and unalloyed commitment to the well-being of over 3.8 million residents,” Bamidele said.

Beyond Oyebanji’s re-election, he emphasised the broader task of preparing for the 2027 general elections, stressing the need for voter mobilisation across the South-West. He said: “As a party of conviction and vision, we have set a target to deliver at least 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the six states of the South-West alone. We must mobilise our members and neighbours to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards to exercise their suffrage.”

Bamidele called for grassroots engagement, urging party members to go “house-to-house, street-to-street, and community-to-community” to ensure maximum participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

He further promised to lead the governorship re-election campaign with diligence, aiming for a 90% landslide victory for the APC in the June 20 poll, while calling on party members to work in unity and harmony.

Governor Oyebanji, while expressing appreciation for Bamidele’s support, reaffirmed that his campaign would be issue-driven, focusing on policies, programmes, and development plans rather than personal attacks. He also urged all political candidates to adhere strictly to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 to ensure a peaceful, credible, and transparent electoral process.

The inauguration was attended by the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Monisade Afuye; Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye; National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Basiru; Chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Ports Authority, Dayo Adeyeye; former Senator of Ekiti Central, Bode; and other members of the National Assembly.
