Atiku defeats Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen in Imo ADC presidential primary

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election in Imo State, defeating former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

Announcing the results at the party secretariat in Owerri, the Chairman of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, Eko Atu, described the exercise as peaceful, free, and transparent.

According to the results declared by the committee, Atiku secured a total of 52,222 votes to defeat his closest rival, Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 7,659 votes.

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen came third with 1,121 votes.

The committee chairman commended party members for their orderly conduct during the exercise and said the process reflected the democratic ideals of the party.
