Army, NSCDC forge stronger alliance to combat insecurity in Katsina

The Katsina Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the 17th Brigade of the Nigerian Army have reaffirmed their collaborative commitment in the fight against insecurity in the state.

The Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Ishaya Ibrahim, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the State Commandant, NSCDC, Abbas Moriki, at the command headquarters in Katsina on Friday.

Speaking during the visit, Ibrahim highlighted the long-standing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Army and the NSCDC, noting that the partnership had been instrumental in addressing security challenges across the state.

He assured that the brigade under his leadership would further consolidate on the existing synergy to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property in Katsina.

“The NSCDC and the Nigerian Army share a long history of partnership, and this relationship will be further strengthened during my tenure as the brigade commander,” Ibrahim assured.

Responding, Moriki welcomed the new brigade commander to his office and to Katsina State, commending the Nigerian Army for its relentless efforts in combating terrorism and other forms of criminality in the country.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to sustaining strong cooperation with the military and other security agencies in tackling security challenges.

“The NSCDC will continue to collaborate and work closely with the Nigerian Army and other relevant stakeholders to ensure safety and security for citizens of the state,” Moriki stated.

In a related development, the state commandant had also received the Director-General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr Joseph Ochogwu.

He also received the State Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Abdulrashid Sule, and the Acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Katsina Zonal Directorate, Mr Chinedu Ozugha.

In their separate remarks, the officers emphasised the importance of strengthening existing cooperation between the NSCDC and their respective organisations.

Moriki, in his response, assured the visiting officials of the corps’ readiness to sustain collaboration and synergy aimed at improving security and institutional cooperation in the state. (NAN)
