Armed robbers allegedly kill journalist in Ibadan

An Ibadan-based journalist, Ojo Peter has been allegedly shot by armed robbers in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
DAILY POST gathered on Monday that Peter died as a result of the gunshot.
Our correspondent reports that Peter was a former reporter of Parrot Extra newspaper.
It was learnt that he had established his own online newspaper.
Our correspondent gathered that Peter was shot by the armed robbers in a daylight attack along the Molete–Oke Ado axis of Ibadan on August 18, 2025.
The news of his death was, however, announced on Sunday by his colleagues through one of the WhatsApp platforms of members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.
Many of his colleagues were curious to hear that he was shot and died on 18th August but the news was announced on Sunday, 7th September.
Many people are still wondering why such an incident occurred but has not been reported since then.
A younger brother of the deceased, Enahoro Peter, informed journalists that his brother was shot on 18th August along the Molete-Oke Ado road around 2.00 pm on that day.
“On that same day that he was shot, I got a call from one police officer from Orita Challenge that our brother is at their station, but upon getting there I was told he has been shot by a notorious armed robber operating with a motorcycle.
“That was how we got to know that he had gone. This is someone that went out in search of daily bread for his family, he was hale and healthy, his life was cut short by the bullet of the armed robber in a broad day light,” he lamented.
All efforts made by DAILY POST to get a reaction from the Police Public Relations Officer of the state Police command, Adewale Osifeso proved abortive as of the time of filing this report on Monday.
