Amosun rallies support for Tinubu at APC presidential primary

Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Saturday reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the ongoing presidential primary exercise as a demonstration of unity within the ruling party.

Speaking with journalists after participating in the APC presidential primary election in his ward, Amosun said party members across the country had come out in solidarity with the President and to reaffirm their collective position ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“Today is very special. Today is for the President, and we all must come out to show and demonstrate that we are for the President and for APC,” he said.

The former governor explained that the party had already concluded similar exercises for other positions, including the governorship category, stressing that members were united and in agreement on the party’s direction.

“We have all taken that position. What is happening today is just to reaffirm what we have done,” Amosun stated.

He noted that the exercise was taking place simultaneously across wards nationwide, adding that party faithful were eager and enthusiastic about participating in the democratic process.

“Every ward in Nigeria is doing this, and we have to come and participate and do our bit too. I am happy with our people. You can see they are very excited and eager to be part of what is going on,” he added.

Commenting on the conduct of the exercise, Amosun commended party members for maintaining orderliness and unity throughout the process.

“You can see we are orderly, and that is what it should be. All of us are speaking with one voice. There is no dissension. Everybody agreed that we want our President to continue,” he said.

The APC chieftain maintained that the exercise reflected the confidence of party members in the leadership of President Tinubu and the commitment of the ruling party to internal cohesion.
