Adeleke touts labour welfare records, mocks APC
By Shina Abubakar
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has flaunted his administration’s welfarism on issues relating to labour in the state, mocking the state APC for its years of anti-worker and anti-labour records.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Thursday, the governor said the APC laughed off unfounded criticism from the Osun APC, saying his administration has demonstrated unflinching commitment to the welfare and well-being of workers.
The statement reads further: “The sins of Osun APC against workers and pensioners are grave, life-threatening and deliberately inhuman. Neither Osun workers nor residents hope to see a return of inhuman leadership that viciously trampled upon the rights and privileges of workers and senior citizens.
“This administration has fulfilled critical promises to Osun workers which was attested to by the mass endorsement of the governor’s re-election from 2024 to 2025. From improved conditions of service, regular promotions, payment of due allowances, regular payment of salaries, cash backing of promoted officials, access to health insurance, payment of backlogs of half salaries, pension payments among others.
“Amidst tight financial constraints, the administration has remained focused on balanced distribution of meagre resources while preparing ground for absorption of new staff in line with needs and availability of resources. Osun workers know their friends from their tormentors.
“This administration acts in the best interest of workers and Osun people. The interests of all cadres of Osun workers are priorities in the heart of Mr Governor and all top officials of the administration,” the statement added.
