Adeboye urges Nigerians to embrace Christ as ‘Priceless Gift’ amid uncertainty

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged Nigerians to find their ultimate security and hope in Jesus Christ amid prevailing national uncertainties.

Pastor Adeboye said Nigerians should look beyond the temporary gifts associated with the festive season and embrace what he described as the “priceless and eternal gift” of Jesus Christ.

He made the call during the annual December Let’s-Go-A-Fishing evangelistic outreach of RCCG Regions 1, 36 and 52, held at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. The General Overseer disclosed that the annual spiritual programme is taking place simultaneously in 40 locations across Nigeria.

Preaching on the theme “The Priceless Gift,” Pastor Adeboye used the Christmas tradition of gift-giving to contrast temporary worldly presents with the eternal value of salvation in Christ.

“Christmas is a period when we give gifts to our friends, but no matter how precious, they are always temporary. Money finishes, clothes wear out. There is only one who can give a gift that lasts forever—Jesus Christ,” he said.

He noted that no human being can guarantee tomorrow, stressing that true assurance lies in a personal relationship with Christ. “There is nobody here who can give you total assurance of tomorrow. But there are those of us who are not bothered about tomorrow because it is written: ‘Christ in you, the hope of glory,’” he added.

The cleric highlighted divine gifts often taken for granted, including peaceful sleep and a sound mind free from fear. According to him, many people live in constant anxiety over real or imagined enemies, while believers rest confidently in God’s protection.

“Many wealthy people cannot sleep at night; that’s why sleeping pills are a multibillion-dollar business. It is only God who gives sleep to His beloved. Some people are afraid of enemies they do not even know, but we have the Lord of Hosts; we are not worried,” Adeboye said.

He further described an enduring friendship with Jesus as humanity’s greatest provision, noting that in life’s ultimate trial—death—only Christ remains a constant companion.

“The only person who will go with you through the valley of the shadow of death is Jesus Christ,” he said, emphasising that a relationship with Christ guarantees divine guidance, provision and hope for the future.

Also speaking, Pastor Oladele Balogun, Pastor in Charge of RCCG Region 1 and Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, said every other gift has limitations except salvation through Christ.

“Every other gift has limitation. The only gift that is not limited is the priceless gift—the gift of the Lord Jesus Christ,” Balogun said.

On the appropriate national response to Christ’s birth, he called for genuine personal and collective transformation. “Our attitude as Nigerians should be to accept the Lord Jesus Christ and ensure that our lives resemble His. He is truthful; let us be truthful. He is holy; let us be holy,” he stated.

Balogun linked national recovery to godly values, adding, “Serve God, love others, shun all forms of crisis, and I can assure you that whatever Nigeria has lost, we will surely recover it.”

The event featured mass choir ministrations and intensive prayer sessions for families, leaders and the nation. It served as a major spiritual rally for thousands of worshippers, with its central message urging Nigerians to shift focus from material consumption to the pursuit of divine peace, righteousness and moral renewal as foundations for personal and national restoration.
