ADC tussle: Mark camp eyes vindication as S’Court reserves judgement

The leadership crisis in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has entered a decisive phase, with the Supreme Court reserving judgement, as the camp loyal to former Senate President, Senator David Mark, says it is confident of being vindicated.

For now, the ruling is pending, but the stakes are high. The court’s final decision is expected to settle who truly leads the party and could shape the ADC’s role in the fast-forming political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking to Vanguard in Abuja, the party’s National Director of Communication and Programmes, Dr Babatunde Oke, described the development as routine, following arguments from all sides.

“It is part of the judicial process,” Oke said, explaining that the justices would need time to review the submissions before delivering judgement.

“We strongly believe justice will be served without bias,” he added.

Projecting confidence, Oke pointed to what he described as the court’s established position on similar matters.

“The Supreme Court has delivered judgements on several occasions on this same matter. The court cannot contradict itself; it cannot approbate and reprobate at the same time,” he said.

He also hinted at possible consequences for those he believes have misused the legal process.

“We believe some people will be fined for abuse of court process in the coming days, and the ADC, under His Excellency, Distinguished Senator David Mark, will be vindicated,” Oke stated.
