ADC picks George-Taylor as deputy national financial secretary

The national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed and inaugurated Rotimi George-Taylor as Deputy National Financial Secretary, in a move that highlights the opposition party’s push to firm up its structure in the politically strategic South-West.

The decision followed what party sources described as wide consultations across stakeholder ranks in the region, signalling a deliberate effort by the ADC to consolidate its financial command and close a vacancy that had drawn quiet attention within party circles.

The development was confirmed in a statement signed by the National Director of Communication and Programmes of the ADC, Babatunde Oke.

George-Taylor welcomed his appointment and framed it as a call to service within the opposition fold.

“It’s a beautiful opportunity to serve, especially in a major opposition party like African Democratic Congress,” he said.

The inauguration took place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where the party’s Deputy National Chairman (Political), Bamidele Abdulganiyu Ajadi, administered the oath of office. He was assisted by the six South-West state chairmen and other party chieftains from the national and zonal levels.

George-Taylor was sworn in alongside the South-West leadership of the party led by Rahman Owokoniran, in what officials portrayed as a coordinated regional strengthening move.

The ADC said the appointment was based on George-Taylor’s “track record, political idiosyncrasies, administrative astuteness and meritocracy.”

He has assumed duties at the party’s national headquarters, a step the leadership said has finally laid to rest speculation about a vacancy in the office.
