Abia: Otti receives ex-deputy governor into LP

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has received the immediate past deputy governor of Abia State, Ude Oko Chukwu, and hundreds of his supporters into the Labour Party.

During the reception at Nkporo, Ohafia LGA, on Saturday, the governor disclosed that Oko Chukwu privately supported his election in 2023, despite being in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He described Oko Chukwu as a man who always respected him when they were in opposing parties and expressed joy that the newest LP member had taken a bold and weighty decision in quitting PDP.

“The election in 2023 was different because it was about individuals and I stand bold to say that throughout the campaigns and the election proper, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu supported us fully.

“I am happy to welcome you into Labour Party,” Otti said.

He assured the former deputy governor of fair treatment and equal opportunity in his new political family, adding that he would not suffer any discrimination.

Earlier in his speech, former Deputy Governor of Abia State Ude Oko Chukwu said that his decision to join the Labour Party was informed by Governor Alex Otti’s achievements in office.

He praised Otti for reconstructing the neglected Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Akara-Ohafia road, which, according to him, has enhanced transportation in the axis.
