2027: Key political players will move to ADC first quarter of 2026 – Ahmed

The National Treasurer of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Mani Ahmed, has expressed optimism that key political players will move into the party in the first quarter of 2026.

Ahmed said this on Wednesday while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.

He was speaking on the defection of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate to the ADC on Wednesday in Enugu, saying the party was delighted to have him in the fold.

DAILY POST reports that Obi and other notable Southeast leaders on Wednesday defected to the ADC, when he said they will resist rigging in the 2027 general election using legal and legitimate means.

“I’m sure a lot more key players will move into the party in the coming year, particularly within the first quarter of the year.

“I don’t want to be too speculative right here, but talking about the young people that are likely going to be part of this journey for the fact that the obedient movement was generally a movement of very young people.

“The party has made it clear that 50% of the positions in the ADC will be made up of young people below the ages of 40,” he said.

He acknowledged the importance of the youths, saying they know the demographic tendencies they present.
