2027: It’s time to bury hatchet, Natasha tells PDP leaders

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has appealed to leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to embrace reconciliation and move beyond lingering litigation in the overall interest of Nigerians.

She said this against the backdrop of the recent Appeal Court judgement on the party’s national convention.

In a statement, she personally signed and issued on Tuesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan urged members nationwide to see the judgement as an opportunity to restore unity, strengthen internal democracy, and reposition the PDP as a formidable platform ahead of 2027.

“The Court of Appeal has spoken, and as a democratic party that believes in the rule of law, we must shift focus from litigation to reconciliation and rebuilding,” she said.

Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasised that internal disputes should not derail the hopes and aspirations of party members preparing for future elections.

The federal legislator further said, “Our members across the grassroots… must not become casualties of prolonged disagreements among leaders. Their aspirations and the future of our party must remain paramount.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan equally called on party leaders to adopt a spirit of compromise and statesmanship, noting that the current moment requires maturity, dialogue, and collective commitment to the PDP’s survival and progress.

She urged stakeholders to work towards an inclusive and credible national convention that complies with INEC guidelines.

“Nigerians are watching, and we must show that the PDP remains ready and capable of leading the nation forward,” the lawmaker said.
