2027: Blame yourselves if APC loses Abia, Chairman tells members

UMUAHIA – Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Chijioke Chukwu, has warned party members that they should hold themselves responsible if the party fails to win the state in the 2027 general elections.

Chukwu gave the warning while addressing party faithful in Ikwuano Local Government Area, describing Abia as a “low-hanging fruit” for the APC if members remain united and committed.

He said the party had already recorded an early victory ahead of the elections through the peaceful conduct of its congresses, noting that contrary to expectations of internal crisis, the APC in the state has grown stronger.

“If APC loses Abia in 2027, it is our own making because the state is a low-hanging fruit,” he said.

The chairman alleged that many individuals who contributed to the emergence of Governor Alex Otti are now in the APC, claiming that the current administration had sidelined key supporters.

Chukwu also criticised aspects of the state government, alleging that some officials were not fully grounded in the state’s political structure.

He urged party members to intensify mobilisation efforts, stressing the need for Abia State to align with the APC at the federal level under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to benefit from national opportunities.

According to him, most states in the country are controlled by the APC, and Abia should not remain on the sidelines.

He further called on members to take advantage of the party’s current momentum and work towards securing victory in 2027.
