10 churches with the largest auditoriums in the world
Some of the world’s biggest churches are distinguished not only by their congregations but also by the enormous auditoriums built to accommodate thousands of worshippers in a single service.
The trend is particularly striking in Africa, where several Pentecostal churches have constructed or are developing worship centres capable of seating tens of thousands of people. Nigeria, in particular, dominates the global rankings.
For this ranking, auditorium capacity refers to the number of people a main worship auditorium can seat in a single service, rather than total church membership, weekly attendance or the capacity of an entire church campground. Figures can vary between sources, particularly for newer projects.
Here are 10 of the largest church auditoriums in the world based on reported seating capacity.
1. Hand of God Cathedral – 120,000 seats
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria
Church: Salvation Ministries
The Hand of God Cathedral, operated by Salvation Ministries, is currently reported as the world’s largest church auditorium, with a capacity of 120,000 worshippers.
Located in Port Harcourt, the massive worship centre is associated with Pastor David Ibiyeomie and was designed to accommodate the church’s growing congregation and large-scale gatherings.
The cathedral was dedicated in November 2025, according to recent reports, and its reported capacity has placed it at the top of current rankings of the world’s largest church auditoriums.
Its size is particularly notable because it surpasses several other Nigerian megachurch auditoriums that previously held the distinction of being among the world’s largest.
2. The Ark – 109,345 seats
Location: Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria
Church: Living Faith Church Worldwide
The Ark, another massive Nigerian church project, is associated with Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel.
The proposed auditorium has a reported capacity of 109,345 seats, putting it among the biggest church auditoriums ever planned. It is being developed close to Faith Tabernacle at Canaanland in Ota, Ogun State.
The project represents an expansion of Living Faith Church’s enormous worship infrastructure at Canaanland, which already includes the 50,000-seat Faith Tabernacle.
Because The Ark has been reported as under construction, its inclusion in a ranking of the largest auditoriums should be understood as a planned/projected capacity rather than that of a completed, regularly operating auditorium.
3. Glory Dome – 100,000 seats
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Church: Dunamis International Gospel Centre
The Glory Dome of Dunamis International Gospel Centre is one of the most recognisable megachurch auditoriums in Nigeria.
The Abuja facility has a reported capacity of 100,000 people and was completed in 2018. It serves as the headquarters of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
The church has itself described the facility as a 100,000-seat auditorium, while footage from Dunamis has shown large gatherings filling the venue.
Its completion helped establish Abuja as home to one of the largest enclosed worship auditoriums anywhere in the world.
4. Champions Royal Assembly – 80,000 seats
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Church: Champions Royal Assembly
The main auditorium of Champions Royal Assembly, also known as the City of Wonders, has a reported seating capacity of 80,000.
The auditorium, associated with Pastor Joshua Iginla, was completed in 2015 and is located in Abuja.
The enormous building has been used for church services, conferences, crusades and other large gatherings. Its 80,000-seat capacity places it ahead of several internationally recognised megachurch facilities.
5. Temple of the Glory of God – 60,000 seats
Location: São Paulo, Brazil
Church: God Is Love Pentecostal Church
Moving outside Africa, the Temple of the Glory of God in São Paulo is one of the largest church auditoriums in South America.
The auditorium belongs to the God Is Love Pentecostal Church, a Brazilian Pentecostal denomination founded by David Miranda.
The church inaugurated the Temple of the Glory of God in 2004, with a reported capacity of 60,000 seats.
Its size makes it one of the few non-African churches in the top tier of the global auditorium rankings.
6. Faith Tabernacle – 50,000 seats
Location: Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria
Church: Living Faith Church Worldwide
The Faith Tabernacle is one of Nigeria’s best-known megachurch auditoriums and was once widely recognised as the world’s largest church auditorium.
Living Faith Church Worldwide says the 50,000-seat sanctuary was built and dedicated between 1998 and 1999, with construction completed in just one year.
The auditorium remains the main worship centre at Canaanland and hosts major programmes, including the church’s annual Shiloh gathering.
Although newer projects have overtaken it in reported capacity, Faith Tabernacle remains one of the largest completed church auditoriums in the world.
7. Nginden Bethany Church – 35,000 seats
Location: Surabaya, Indonesia
Church: Bethany Indonesian Church
The Nginden Bethany Church, also known as Graha Bethany Nginden, is one of the largest church auditoriums in Asia.
The Surabaya-based church originally opened a 20,000-seat temple in 2000. Following subsequent expansion and renovation, the capacity rose to about 35,000 seats in 2009.
The church is affiliated with Bethany Indonesian Church and is associated with a large Pentecostal and charismatic Christian community in Indonesia.
Its presence in the top 10 also makes it one of the biggest church auditoriums outside Africa and South America.
8. International Gospel Centre – 35,000 seats
Location: Warri, Delta State, Nigeria
Church: Word of Life Bible Church
The International Gospel Centre in Warri is the main worship facility of Word of Life Bible Church.
The auditorium has a reported capacity of 35,000 people. The facility is located along Ajamimogha-Ekpen Road in Warri and has become a major venue for worship services and large Christian gatherings.
The church was founded by Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, and the centre has played an important part in the growth of the ministry.

The facility has a reported capacity of 30,000 worshippers and was opened in 2022. The church is led by Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.
