WAFCON: 3 countries qualify for quarter-final
At least three countries have secured their places in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Cameroon, Morocco and Algeria have all booked spots in the last eight after their respective group-stage results.
Cameroon were the first team to qualify after defeating Ghana 1-0 on Sunday.
The Indomitable Lionesses sit top of Group D with six points from two matches and have already guaranteed a top-two finish, regardless of the outcome of their final group game against Cape Verde.
Hosts Morocco also advanced to the WAFCON quarter-finals after playing out a goalless draw with Senegal in Rabat on Monday night.
The Atlas Lionesses finished top of Group A with seven points, securing their place in the knockout stage ahead of Algeria.
Algeria joined Morocco in qualifying from the group after recording a 2-0 victory over Kenya.
The result saw the Algerians finish second in Group A with six points from three matches, securing their place in the last eight.
