Soludo reaffirms commitment to inclusive governance, merit-based appointments

AWKA — Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, stressing that he serves all residents of the state irrespective of their religious or traditional affiliations.

Soludo made the declaration while addressing the Anglican Diocesan Synod in Ezira, Orumba South Local Government Area.

Expressing appreciation to the people of Anambra for their support during the last governorship election, the governor said his mandate transcends religious and sectarian boundaries.

“I am the governor of all denominations — Christians, Muslims and traditional worshippers. Everyone has the freedom to worship in Anambra. We are all one and must celebrate our common humanity,” he said.

The governor warned against growing divisions in society, noting that humanity faces significant challenges that require unity and mutual understanding.

He urged citizens to prioritise their shared humanity above differences, expressing concern over increasing fragmentation within Christendom.

Speaking on appointments into public service, Soludo said competence remains the primary consideration for recruitment and appointments under his administration.

“For me, it is about the value proposition you bring to the table. Most of the people I have appointed were chosen because they can get the job done,” he said.

He appealed to Anambra residents to remain patient as his administration continues to implement its development agenda, assuring that merit would remain the guiding principle in appointments.

The governor also commended the Anglican Church for establishing a nursing school in Isulo, describing the initiative as a valuable contribution to the state’s development.

“We are building our own institutions, but I encourage you to invest more in education and health. It can never be enough,” he said.

Soludo further advised religious leaders to consider the economic realities of their congregants when embarking on development projects, urging them to align such initiatives with the financial capacity of the people.

Earlier, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, commended the governor for his developmental strides and appealed for continued support, assuring him of the church’s prayers for the success of his administration.
