Police arrest suspected cult members terrorising Osun
Police in Osun have arrested some suspected members of secret cults terrorising the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Police Spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on Sunday.
According to Ojelabi, a suspected notorious cultist known as “small”, who was terrorising Iloro community, Ilesa town, was apprehended on Wednesday, at about 6p.m.
“He confessed to being a member of Eiye confraternity,” he said.
Ojelabi said similarly, the Anti-Cultism Unit of the command, through intelligence, arrested suspected cultists at Sasa Area, Osogbo at about 1a.m on Friday.
He said efforts were still ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspect(s) of the group.
He said exhibits recovered from the suspects included: one axe, one live cartridge, one blue cap with Eye Confraternity logo and six other caps.
He said all the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, urged parents and guardians to rein in their wards to shun cultism and engage in meaningful businesses.
