Osun guber: INEC begins PVC distribution

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Osun State, has announced the commencement of the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Oluwatoyin Babalola, said the exercise is intended for eligible voters who registered, applied for transfer of registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise.
According to the commission, the PVC collection exercise will begin at the Registration Area level across the state before moving to the Local Government Area offices to ensure easier access for eligible voters.
The commission stated that collection at the 332 Registration Areas across Osun State will take place from Wednesday, July 22 to Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The statement said the exercise will run daily, including weekends, between 9.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. at the designated Registration Areas.
“Following the completion of the Registration Area phase, PVC collection will continue at all INEC Local Government Area offices across the state from Wednesday, 29 July to Friday, 7 August 2026,” it stated.
The commission added that the collection at the Local Government offices will also be conducted daily, including weekends, from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Babalola urged all eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards within the stipulated period, stressing that the PVC remains the only valid document for accreditation and voting on election day.
She also disclosed that all previously uncollected Permanent Voter Cards from earlier voter registration exercises would be available for collection during the distribution period.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner reminded members of the public that PVC collection must be done personally by the registered voter, warning that collection by proxy would not be permitted under any circumstances.
“The Commission hereby reminds voters that PVC collection is strictly personal and it is an offence to do otherwise. Collection by proxy will not be allowed under any circumstance,” the statement read.
Babalola also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to delivering “a free, fair, credible, inclusive, and transparent Governorship Election in Osun State” and advised members of the public seeking further information to visit the nearest INEC Local Government Office or contact the Osun State INEC office through its official communication channels.
