Igwe De MC marks 20 years on stage with UK debut show “Jokes Apart”

Popular entertainer and master of ceremonies, Henry Okwudilichukwu Ugwoke, widely known as Igwe De MC, is set to celebrate 20 years in the entertainment industry with a landmark show in the United Kingdom titled “Jokes Apart.”

The event, scheduled for July 25 at Novotel Southampton, will feature no fewer than 22 top Nigerian comedians, DJs and entertainers.

The lineup includes Seyi Law, Deacon Famous, Sir One on One, Twocantok, Franchez, LYRICS, Unku SP, Lafin Gas, Warri Bros, NDfunny, Triple U, alongside DJs Oma, Rain, Bullet, Sailent Masta and Bala, among others.

Speaking with journalists in Enugu, Ugwoke said the show would deliver a blend of comedy, music and premium entertainment, describing it as his debut event in England.

According to him, the anniversary show reflects his “passion, resilience and remarkable growth” in the entertainment industry over the years.

“I have continued to inspire, entertain and leave lasting impressions across borders,” he said.

Ugwoke noted that he had hosted numerous events across Nigeria before relocating to the UK, where he is currently making waves in the entertainment scene across Europe and beyond.

The entertainer hails from Ede-Oballa in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He studied Medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences at the University of Nigeria, but maintained his passion for entertainment despite his medical background.

Igwe De MC officially began his career as an event host in 2005 and steadily built a reputation for originality, charisma and audience engagement.

His entertainment journey also took him to the Joyful Family Theatre Group in Enugu, where he served two terms as president, further sharpening his creative and leadership abilities.

Over the years, he has served as brand ambassador for several companies, including Body Up Energy Drink, Chupez Nigeria Ltd and Pik A Ride.

He also served as President of the Association of Enugu State Comedians and MCs (ASSESCOM), contributing to the growth and unity of entertainers in the state.

Beyond entertainment, Igwe De MC gained attention for his culturally celebrated “Ofala Wedding” with his wife, Mrs. Soludo Linda Idoko.
