Hajj 2026: Nigerian pilgrim dies in Saudi Arabia

A male Nigerian pilgrim participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise has reportedly died at Muzdalifah in Saudi Arabia shortly after arriving from Arafat.
The deceased, believed to be from Bauchi State, reportedly died in the early hours of Wednesday during the overnight movement of pilgrims from Arafat to Muzdalifah.
According to Daily Trust, Saudi security officials and emergency medical personnel were seen evacuating the body from the area shortly after the incident.
Witnesses said the pilgrim was wheeled out by Saudi police officers alongside members of an emergency medical team, while two officials believed to be attached to the Bauchi State pilgrims contingent accompanied the evacuation process.
The report also stated that authorities had yet to officially confirm the identity of the deceased pilgrim, and the cause of death remained unclear.
The incident occurred during one of the most physically demanding stages of the Hajj pilgrimage, which involves continuous movement of pilgrims between holy sites under harsh weather conditions and heavy crowds.
