‘Democracy has won’: Tambuwal congratulates Adeleke

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the outcome as a victory for democracy and the people of the state.

Tambuwal, in a statement posted on his X handle on Sunday, said the election had provided the people of Osun with another opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to choose their leaders.

He said Adeleke’s victory was not merely a personal achievement but a demonstration of the strength of democratic participation.

“I warmly congratulate His Excellency, Governor Adeleke, on his re-election as Governor of Osun State.

“This victory is not only a personal triumph for Governor Adeleke; it is a victory for democracy and, above all, a victory for the people of Osun State, who have once again exercised their constitutional right to determine who leads them,” he said.

Tambuwal said the ballot remained the most powerful expression of the people’s will in a democracy, adding that respect for citizens’ choices would strengthen democratic institutions and deepen public confidence in the electoral process.

“The ballot remains the most powerful expression of the will of the people in a democracy. When citizens freely make their choice and that choice is respected, our democratic institutions are strengthened and public confidence in the electoral process is deepened,” he said.

The former Speaker commended Osun voters for their participation and commitment to the democratic process, while congratulating Adeleke for securing their confidence for another term.

He urged the governor to regard the renewed mandate as a greater responsibility to serve all residents of the state, irrespective of their political affiliations.

“As he prepares to continue the work of governance, I urge him to see this renewed mandate as an even greater responsibility to serve all the people of Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation,” Tambuwal said.

He wished Adeleke wisdom, strength and success as he continues to govern the state.

“Congratulations, Your Excellency. Congratulations to the people of Osun State. Democracy has won,” he added.
