Army foils terror logistics operations, arrests 16 suspects

…Rescues 12 victims nationwide

Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified nationwide operations against terrorist and criminal networks, arresting 16 suspected informants and logistics suppliers, rescuing 12 victims, and recovering arms and illicit materials across multiple theatres.

The operations, conducted within the last 24 hours, targeted supply chains, hideouts, and operational bases of insurgent groups, as part of ongoing efforts to degrade their capabilities and protect vulnerable communities.

In the North-East, troops of 192 Battalion carried out a successful ambush on suspected ISWAP/JAS fighters near Kuranabassa Village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. The encounter forced the insurgents to retreat toward the Mandara Mountains.

Items recovered after the operation included one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 12 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and other related materials.

In a separate operation, troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), intercepted three vehicles along the Yunusari–Bukarti–Kala/Gamari axis suspected to be transporting supplies to insurgents. Five suspects were arrested, while items recovered included solar panels, water pumping machines, construction materials, mobile phones, and cash.

Also, troops of 12 Brigade operating along the Obajana–Kabba Road in Kogi State intercepted another vehicle conveying suspected logistics items. Two suspects were apprehended, and 314 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, three AK-47 magazines, and other items were recovered.

In the North-West, troops of 17 Brigade conducted clearance operations in Musawa and Matazu Local Government Areas of Katsina State, destroying several identified hideouts and support structures in multiple villages, thereby disrupting activities of criminal elements.

Meanwhile, in Plateau State, troops under Operation Enduring Peace responded to distress calls and successfully rescued 12 civilians reportedly trapped by armed elements. Injured victims were evacuated for medical treatment.

Operations also extended to the South-South and North-Central regions. In Rivers State, troops discovered and secured about 3,250 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products along Refinery Road in Eleme Local Government Area.

Similarly, in Taraba State, troops of 114 Battalion arrested nine suspected informants linked to criminal activities and dismantled identified hideouts used for coordination.

The Nigerian Army said the operations underscore its continued commitment to dismantling terrorist and criminal networks, disrupting logistics chains, and safeguarding lives and property across the country.

It also called on members of the public to support ongoing efforts by providing credible and timely information to security agencies.
