Adebayo mourns former Aso Rock chaplain, William Okoye

The Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2027 general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has mourned the death of the Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, Rev. Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye.

Adebayo described the late cleric as a devoted servant of God who stood firmly as a voice for truth, peace, justice and national reconciliation.

In a statement personally signed on Thursday, the SDP candidate said Okoye dedicated his life to the service of God, promoting unity among Christians, advancing righteousness and contributing to the moral transformation of Nigeria.

According to him, the late cleric’s ministry went beyond denominational boundaries, inspiring many believers to uphold values of holiness, integrity and selfless service.

Okoye, who served as Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Federal Capital Territory chapter, and Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), FCT chapter, later became CAN’s National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.

He also served on the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission. He was chaplain to two Nigerian presidents and headed the Aso Rock Villa Chapel.

Adebayo said Nigeria had lost a distinguished Christian leader whose contributions to faith, leadership and nation-building would remain memorable.

“Throughout his lifetime, he stood firmly as a voice of truth, peace, justice, and national reconciliation. His commitment to raising leaders of character and strengthening the Christian witness in Nigeria has left an enduring legacy that generations will continue to cherish,” he said.

The SDP candidate extended condolences to Okoye’s family, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship, CAN, PFN, and the wider Christian community in Nigeria and beyond.

“Although we mourn his departure, we also celebrate a life well spent in faithful service to God and humanity,” Adebayo said.

He prayed for God’s comfort and strength for the late cleric’s family, friends and the Church, while expressing hope that more faithful servants would continue the work to which Okoye dedicated his life.
