2027: APGA affirms Danjuma Shiddi as Taraba governorship candidate

JALINGO — The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has affirmed Hon. Danjuma Shiddi as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election in Taraba State.

Shiddi emerged as the party’s flag bearer during a primary election and candidate confirmation exercise held in Jalingo.

The party also finalised candidates for various legislative positions, including the Senate, House of Representatives and Taraba State House of Assembly seats.

Speaking after overseeing the exercise, APGA National Vice Chairman for the North-East, Aminu Hamanjoda Furo, described the process as peaceful, transparent and orderly.

He commended party members for their conduct during the exercise and lauded the contributions of women, youths and security agencies in ensuring a hitch-free process.

Among candidates unveiled by the party are Alhaji Ali Sani Kona for Taraba North Senatorial District, Hon. Patrick Umar for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency, Salihu Ibrahim for Jalingo I State Constituency and Cyprian David Kamai for Jalingo II State Constituency.

In his acceptance speech, Danjuma Shiddi thanked party members and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing his emergence as a reflection of the trust and belief the people have in his leadership.

He pledged to pursue governance reforms and policies aimed at accelerating socio-economic development across the state if elected.

Shiddi also urged eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that the ballot remains the most effective tool for democratic change.

Expressing optimism about the party’s chances, he said APGA was well-positioned to secure victory in the governorship election and other contests in the state.
