2027: APC pegs presidential form at N100m, primary on May 15

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has released its timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, setting the total cost of obtaining its presidential nomination form at N100 million and the governorship form at N50 million.

APC sais the timetable, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and announced in a statement by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, on Monday night in Abuja, was issued in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, the Electoral Act 2026, and INEC’s Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections.

Under the schedule, presidential aspirants will pay N30 million as expression of interest and N70 million as nomination fee, totalling N100 million. Governorship aspirants face a combined bill of N50 million — N10 million for expression of interest and N40 million for nomination.

Senate hopefuls will pay a total of N20 million, comprising N3 million and N17 million respectively, while House of Representatives aspirants will spend N10 million in all. Candidates seeking State House of Assembly seats will pay N6 million, made up of N1 million for expression of interest and N5 million for nomination.

The party, in its tradition, offered some relief to female aspirants, youths and physically challenged aspirants, who are to pay only the expression of interest fee and 50 percent of the prescribed Nomination fees for each position.

On the activity schedule, the APC has notified its state chapters of the elections effective Monday, April 20, 2026, with the sale of forms at the National Secretariat running from Saturday, April 25 to Saturday, May 2, 2026. The last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is Monday, May 4, 2026.

Screening of aspirants for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and Governorship positions is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6 to Friday, May 8, 2026, while presidential aspirants will be screened on Saturday, May 9. Screening results for all categories will be published on Monday, May 11, and screening appeals will run from Tuesday, May 12 to Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Primary elections are scheduled to commence with the presidential primary on Friday, May 15 to Saturday, May 16, 2026, followed by the House of Representatives on Monday, May 18, the Senate on Wednesday, May 20, the State House of Assembly on Thursday, May 21, and the governorship primary on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Election appeals follow immediately after each primary, with the governorship appeal scheduled for Monday, May 25.

The APC, in the statement, reassured members, stakeholders and Nigerians of its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent primary election process. “The APC reassures members, stakeholders, and Nigerians of its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent primary election that will further strengthen the Party’s internal democracy and consolidate its progressive ideals,” the statement read.
